Episode 99: Storms, Live Broadcast for Show 100, & Listener Feedback

drive thru tree

The last couple of days have been the opposite of “tame” when it comes to weather out here in the off grid camper. Over the years living in Virginia you just kind of get used to numerous storms and hurricanes. The last two days we have had some very strong winds, thunderstorms, rain, and yup a tornado or few from what mystorm damage outside camper co-workers told me the next day. The featured picture for this show was of the tree that fell over during the storm yesterday. Driving back to the camper after a day of strong winds and rain I knew I had to make one of two choices in a split second. Option 1 stop driving on the now slightly flooded, muddy, and slick path, and get stuck in the mud.. or Option 2 keep driving and simply plow right through the fallen tree. I chose Option 2.. vroom vroom clunk crunch woohoo I made it! lol 🙂 The other picture here is of some thing that were outside the off grid camper. Yes the strong winds did break some of this. Luckily most of the severe weather missed me out here in the camper though.

If you have been following the Off The Grid Podcast recently you know that I have been working on something special for episode 100. After exploring several options to broadcast a live show while weighing the pros and cons of each I have decided to go with Periscope. What is that you may be asking? Periscope is an app that can easily be downloaded to your phone an also tune in on their website as well. In case you are wondering you will not only be able to watch live video but you can also type your questions / comments live too! Yes show 100 will be a live broadcast and thanks to one of the listener’s recommendations I will be using Periscope to make it happen. Thanks Brian!! I would love for you to be a part of episode 100 so please join us this Sunday at 5, 6, and 7 PM eastern standard time. I know this may be short notice for the first live broadcast for Off The Grid Podcast so I am honestly curious to see how this will goes! lol

Three emails came in for today’s listener feedback segment of the Thursday Off The Grid Podcast. I won’t spoil it for you but here are a few details if you have not listened. Steve emailed and was curious about how my Chocolate Peanut Butter beer turned out. If you missed it here is a link to the 3 shows ~ Episode 61: Bottling the Strange Brew, Episode 60 Brewing Chocolate Peanut Butter Beer, and Episode 56: Making Beer. Brian emailed with a tip on what I will be using for live broadcasting here for the show. Please see the link below about Periscope to tune in and follow all future live shows (and view past live videos). This last email came in from Pat. He asked about this years garden and also shared a good observation. I did not realize it at the time but this was a tough one for me. Why you ask? Well ironically I have been keenly aware of the fact that I need to “focus” going forward more so this last week. Pat’s email was really cool because in a way it was kind of like the universe was reminding me that focusing was something I really need to focus on! If you have ever really taken a good look in the mirror then you know that facing some of your own “stuff” from time to time can be challenging to say the least. It is always for the best and I really appreciate it that he was brave enough to point that out. Thanks man! There was a lot more to these emails but I have to save something for the show so if you have not already take a listen! 🙂
